After so many years of sharing his multifaceted talents with people all over the world, the "World’s Greatest New York High School Reunion" was the setting for a wonderful day and evening of love and affection as over 2,000 of our "family" gathered and celebrated the graduation of one of the most illustrious students of our New York City schools.

Milton Berlinger, born and raised on the streets of Harlem, attended the prestigious school for young performers, Professional Children’s School, in Manhattan but he left school before graduating as his talents propelled him into the upper stratosphere of our nation’s greatest entertainers.

But finally, on October 6, 1990, after some sixty-eight glorious years, Milton Berle, was finally graduated and graduated in style. . .at Beverly Hills High School, in a class of “one;” witnessed by over 2,000 fellow New York City grads and with his classmate from 1922, the most lovely Ruby Keeler.

Jeffrey Lawrence, the headmaster from Professional Children’s School, flew from New York to officially present Milton with his diploma and with an original report card from the eighth grade. As the band played Pomp and Circumstance Milton danced to the rostrum to receive his degree. Fellow PCS graduates Huntz Hall, Eileen Barton and Elliott Gould also joined with Ruby in support of their new fellow alum.

The love and affection that was expressed for Milton was shared in a nostalgic evening of entertainment with the comedic wit of New Utrecht’s, Dave Barry, Clinton’s Hank Garrett and Akron, Ohio’s Jesse White. Dual school attendee, Fred Travalena, Forest Hills and Massapequa H.S. shared his own birthday as he entertained and delighted audience with comedy, singing and with insightful impressions. no credit check payday loans

Ruby Keeler finally paid Milton the $1.98 that he’d been "hocking" her since 1925 for the sandwich that Milton’s mother paid for her at the C&D (cheap and dirty) deli and Garry Marshall, Clinton High, shared his experiences in growing up in the exciting borough of the Bronx.

Eileen Barton sang, New Utrecht’s Eddy Manson, regaled with his harmonica concertos and fellow New Utrecht, Gene Barry brought down the house with house with his signature song; "The Best of Times."

Madison’s Martin Landau performed another of his "impossible missions’ by accepting his assignment from the Mew York Alumni Association by guiding Peter Lupus through a grueling psychological metamorphosis - teaching him to pronounce the word toilet; and he taught Peter how to follow the infamous bounces of a spauldeen and how to ingest the uniquely flavored egg cream. With the successful completion of his ordeal and recitation of the affirmation he was officially knighted, New York street style – with Marty’s stickball bat and proclaimed an official adopted New Yorker.

And as is often the case, the people working behind the scenes, producer Eddy Lawrence Manson, special consultants fBuddy Arnold and Johnny Francis, lighting director Ed Schachter and special effects coordinator Jon Alexander worked tirelessly and un-noticed to all but a few.

All in all it was a wonderful evening and one which was thoroughly enjoyed by all including our most precious of all. . . uncles, Uncle Miltie, whose comedy at the close of the evening caused a forty-five minute continuous wave of roaring laughter.
